In facial treatments, high intensity focused ultrasound penetrates through the surface of the skin to deliver precise and fractional focused energy at the right depth of 3.0mm for connective tissue and 4.5 mm for the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) without damaging the epidermis.
The HIFU targets the connective tissue stimulating new collagen and elastin synthesis via the wound healing response improving texture, firming and reducing wrinkles.
The SMAS is the deeper layer and is responsible for the muscular activity in the face. By stimulating the SMAS and the connective tissue there is a contraction in the muscle and new collagen and elastin synthesis occur in both layers.

How the HIFU treatment works
HIFU works by using ultrasonic energy in combination with heat. The ultrasonic energy and heat bypass the surface of the skin to deliver targeted energy specifically into the deep, structural tissues and muscles of the skin. As new fibres start to regenerate, this increases the production of collagen which results in a tightening effect of the tissues from the inside out. The HIFU transducer irradiates 65-75ºC of HIFU energy into the skin, this then creates thermal coagulation on the target layers of skin tissue with no damage on the skin surface or surrounding tissues. Following the initial treatment, the skin starts to undergo wound healing process that simulates collagen synthesis and regeneration.
Unlike lasers, radio frequency, surgery and other cosmetic procedures, HIFU bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths within the skin at the desired temperature. This HIFU energy triggers a natural response under the skin, causing the body to enter into the regenerative process, resulting in the production of new collagen.

Each session is dependent on the treatment area, but we advise around 30 minutes per area. Your treatment will be tailored to your individual requirements which will be discussed in your pre-treatment consultation. Additional time will be required if you require more areas.
